Labor must listen to the message delivered by Bonner on election day

“The Coalition Government is delivering on its election commitment to scrap the carbon tax,” Ross Vasta said today.

“When the carbon tax is gone, households in Bonner will be around $550 better off in 2014‑15 than they would have been with the carbon tax in place.  This is about taking the pressure off electricity and gas bills,” Ross Vasta said

“Small businesses in Bonner have been hit with escalating bills due to Labor’s carbon tax.

“The carbon tax has been hurting jobs, hurting Australian manufacturing and adding to the cost of doing business.

“During the 2010 campaign, Julia Gillard promised there would be no carbon tax under a Government she lead, during the 2013 campaign Kevin Rudd declared he had terminated the carbon tax,  both declarations were untrue.

“Labor must listen to the clear message sent by the Australian community at the 2013 election. Bonner do not want a carbon tax.”

Every day the Labor Party opposes the repeal of the carbon tax is another day they continue to thumb their nose at the people of Bonner.

Every day the Labor Party opposes the repeal of the carbon tax is another day they continue to stand for higher power prices for households and families.

The repeal bills will remove the carbon tax, end the carbon tax on fuels used in shipping, rail and air transport and on synthetic greenhouse gases.

“The Coalition Government will deliver on its promise to the Australian people and will introduce the repeal bills as the first item of parliamentary business”, Ross Vasta said.

Letter from Ian Walker Member for Mansfield, regarding ANZAC car Package Drive.

I am once again sending care packages of food and goods to our troops in Afghanistan in 2013 via my ANZAC Care Package Drive.  With Remembrance Day fast approaching, the packages are a little something from home which let our servicemen and women know that we are thinking of them and appreciate the tough job they are doing on our behalf.

For those of you who weren’t involved last year, I collected donations of non-perishable food and goods which were assembled into post boxes during a mammoth working bee held at my Electorate Office, before being sent off to troops serving in Afghanistan.  With the generous support of the Greater Mt Gravatt Mansfield Lions Club, Woolworths and lots of donations from community members, over 500 kilos of items made their way to overseas troops as a little reminder of home and a means of showing our appreciation for the work done by our troops.

I have scheduled this year’s working bee from 9am – 12pm on Saturday, 26th October at my Electorate Office and am now calling for volunteers to help assemble packages on the day and also for donations of items to go into the packages.  below is a list of suggested contents which can be donated – it can be something a small as a bag of Minties, a lip balm, a pair of socks or a packet of chewing gum.  Every little bit helps and even one small item can make a difference.  I am hoping to have the packages delivered to the troops in time for Remembrance Day.

If you would like to help then thanks!  You can contact my electorate office to register your interest.  Similarly, if you can’t make it on the day but would like to donate an item, it can also be dropped off to my office.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on October 26th for a great event.

Regards
