WYNNUM CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY CHURCH HELPING LOCALS IN ZAMBIA

Wynnum Christian Community Church (WCCC) at Manly West is to be commended for their ongoing missionary work in Zambia, Federal Member for Bonner, Ross Vasta said today.

“I’m pleased to donate leftover rolls of plastic booth wrap from my election campaign to the Church for this good cause,” Mr Vasta said.

“The Church will be sending the wrap to Chingola in Zambia, included in containers of aid that will benefit locals.”

WCCC Secretary David Forward said the rolls of plastic would have two major uses in Chingola.

“Our missionary happens to be a very good grower of vegetables and has begun to teach the Zambians how to grow three crops a year instead of one. One of his real successes is strawberries,” Mr Forward said.

“The wrap will be placed on the ground in his strawberry crop, with the plants growing through the plastic. It will also be used to cover grass roofs of houses to give further protection in the wet season.”

Over the last 10 years WCCC has sent 16 containers of aid to orphanages, schools and the local hospital in Chingola. Each container usually contains 8 to 10 tonnes of aid, all donated by the community.

Mr Vasta thanked WCCC for their good work and commended them for having three more containers of aid ready to go to Chingola.

“Have you ever wondered what happens to all of the material used during an election campaign? I’m proud to donate mine to an outstanding cause that is helping people in need in Zambia,” Mr Vasta said.
