BLACKSMITH SPECIALTY COFFEE CHOSEN FOR BEST SMALL BUSINESS

Blacksmith Specialty Coffee in Mt Gravatt East is Bonner’s small business of the year, Federal Member for Bonner Ross Vasta announced today.

“In the spirit of supporting our local small businesses this Christmas, I recently put out a call for people to nominate one small business in their area that they love and to tell me why,” Mr Vasta said.

“It was great to receive so many messages of support for local businesses, and one stood out above the rest.”

Mt Gravatt East local Gemma Blaney picked Blacksmith as her favourite local business for its friendly staff and affordable and delicious food and coffee.

“Blacksmith has really livened up the street in which they’re located and I think this is great for the local community,” Ms Blaney said.

Ms Blaney received a $150 voucher from Mr Vasta to spend locally this Christmas.

“Thanks to everyone who sent in a nomination in support of their favourite local small business,” Mr Vasta said.

“I can’t wait to drop by Blacksmith for a visit and to meet the wonderful staff who work there.”

“Don’t forget to shop local this holiday season, your support makes all the difference.”

Federal funding to fix mobile black spots in Bonner

Minister for Communications, Senator the Hon Mitch Fifield, and Federal Member for Bonner, Ross Vasta MP; have welcomed the commencement of the Coalition’s Priority Locations Round of the Mobile Black Spot Program, which will provide new or improved mobile coverage to Moreton Island, Burbank and Belmont in Bonner.
The Coalition Government has committed $60 million to address 106 priority locations across the country that have been identified as having poor or no mobile coverage, on top of the 765 locations already being addressed under the first two rounds of the Mobile Black Spot Program.

Minister Fifield opened the priority round today, calling on telecommunication companies to participate in a tender to build new towers and improve coverage in these locations.
“The Coalition continues to deliver more coverage to rural, regional and remote Australia,” Minister Fifield said.
“We’re already delivering 765 towers which will provide coverage for 32,000 homes and businesses, and now we’ll deliver coverage to even more regional Australians.”
The Coalition Government expects the tender process to be finalised by the end of the year, with the rollout of successful towers to commence early in 2018.
“It’s fantastic to see that our community of Bonner is one step closer to receiving new and improved mobile coverage, especially on Moreton Island.”
Mr Vasta said, “I call on the telecommunications companies to give us their best tenders to deliver coverage to our area.
