Waterloo Bay Lapidary Club- Gem Show

This popular show, tucked away in the suburbs is a great event for young and old. You will be dazzled by all the stalls selling gems, jewellery, rocks, minerals and fossils both inside and outside the hall. The club stall has homemade jams, relishes and cakes while the Soft Rock Cafe has mouthwatering treats on offer.

The members display grows every year – jewellery made by members, polished rock specimens, fossils collected and interesting rock art. Come by train, the hall is opposite Hemmant Train Station on Hemmant-Tingalpa Rd. While some traders have credit card facilities, there are no nearby ATMs. Cash still the currency of choice.

ANZAC Day Services 2016

This Anzac Day, Australians from all walks of life will come together to commemorate the Centenary of Anzac, marking one hundred years since the landing of the ANZACs on the shores of Gallipoli.

The importance of this anniversary cannot be understated. The Gallipoli campaign and the First World War shaped who we are as a nation. It cost us dearly, but the bravery and selflessness of the ANZACs will never be forgotten.

I ask you to pay your respects to the legacy of the ANZACs, as well as the servicemen and servicewoman who have followed in their footsteps in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations over a century of service.
