IONA College and Wynnum Vikings AFL club needed no convincing to join Federal Member for Bonner Ross Vasta’s community campaign to fix the chaotic Lindum Station intersection.
In just ten days Mr Vasta has already collected 2000 signatures and has now partnered with a number of local organisations including IONA College and the Wynnum Vikings AFL Club to increase that number even further.
Father Michael Twigg from IONA College said the crossing has been in need of upgrading for many decades and the college wholeheartedly supports Mr Vasta’s community campaign to fix the problematic intersection.
Recently Mr Vasta met with Wynnum Vikings President Brendan Hodgkins, and Vice President Samantha Edmunds to discuss the need for action on the Lindum crossing, they agreed.
Mrs Edmunds said “as our field is located on Kianawah Road, quite a number of our families are required to use this dangerous and congested crossing.
“It has been a problem for years and while there have been plenty of attempts to fix it, we are now at a point where we need a better solution and that’s why we’re backing Mr Vasta’s petition to sort it out.”
Mr Vasta says in less than two weeks the online petition has already reached 2000 signatures and that’s not including the hard copy versions in local shops and businesses around town.
“The locals have come on board in droves and I’m confident that with the backing of the Bonner community together we can fix the Lindum crossing.”
The petition closes in February and Mr Vasta will then be presenting it to the Federal Government.
