Federal Member for Bonner, Ross Vasta today visited Mackenzie State School to congratulate the P&C association on securing a federal funding grant of $6,500.
Mr Vasta said he is proud to have been able to fight for the school to secure the funding as part of the federal government’s Strong Communities Programme.
The funding will allow Mackenzie state school campus to install additional spectator seating, and shade sails at their sports oval.
Mr Vasta said the upgrade to Mt Petrie Oval will be hugely beneficial for the school and the wider community.
“The new seating, shade sails and enhanced grass area will mean the school can host more sports carnivals and house more spectators during events.
“The upgrades will also benefit the local families and community sporting groups of Mackenzie by enabling greater access to sporting fields for use outside of school hours.”
Construction on the new sporting facilities is due to begin next week.
